1919
Francisco Ojanguren and Basilio Marcaide partner, laying the foundations of Ojmar.
1928
Ojmar was established as a Private Limited Company in Eibar, Guipuzcoa, devoted to manufacturing weapons.
1945
Ojmar was established as a Public Limited Company. It started to manufacture locks and bolts.
1955 – 1970
During this period, Ojmar became specialised in manufacturing locks for cars, lorries and motorcycles.
1970 – 1998
After the crisis in the car manufacturing sector, Ojmar developed a line of locks and locking systems for furniture. During this period, Ojmar underwent a big growth with sales to over 40 countries around the world including the US.
1998
Ojmar moved to a new plant in Elgoibar. This move marked the start of a new management era with the design and introduction of the Ojmar 2000 Strategic Plan and with the EFQM Model as the reference for Total Quality Management. Likewise, in the framework of the diversification and development policy undertaken by Ojmar, it launched a new range of mechanical and electronic locks for Leisure centres.
2008
During this period, Ojmar consolidated the generation change that had been happening since 2006. In the framework of the New Strategic Plan, Ojmar developed and started up new actions with a view to strengthening the ones which currently constitute the company’s mainstays: its human team, innovation and product development and new business lines, production and development capacity, international expansion and Ojmar brand image.
In line with these objectives, the commercial strategy was redesigned in three main businesses: Furniture, Leisure Industry and Distribution.
2020 and onwards
Ojmar will be celebrating its 100 year anniversary milestone. The journey continues…
